Precious Blood Feast 2022

1 July seems to be an ordinary day in the calendar almost everywhere. But for the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood, this day is a feast. A great feast, because 1 July has always been the feast of the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. The title feast of our Congregation worldwide!

In the Netherlands it is also the feast of the name of our monastery, because the monastery is called "Missionary Monastery of the Holy Blood". So, a great feast!

And this year there was even more to celebrate, as four Sisters celebrated their diamond jubilee. Four times sixty years of missionary sisterhood: Sister M. Johanna Brandstetter, Sister Maria Fürhapter and Sister M. Magna Pittig celebrated in the chapel; Sister M. Evelyn Fritsch celebrated from her sick room. It was an international celebration; fellow Sisters and friends came from various countries in Europe, who in turn came from various countries in the world, including the countries where our jubilarians have often worked for many years: Zimbabwe and East Africa. A true world celebration.

Flowers were presented to the Sisters at breakfast, and the Eucharistic celebration, celebrated by Rev. W. van der Vrande, was impressive. Fellow Sisters from different countries accompanied the priest with a dance for the entrance procession, and the Gospel was also presented in an African way. The jubilarians expressed their gratitude and attachment to God during the celebration, and the four candles lit on the Easter candle testified to their gratitude.

After the Eucharistic celebration, there was an opportunity to congratulate the jubilarians and the celebration could continue, as it had not been possible for many years, with a wonderful lunch. The weather also cooperated!
